Alderman & Alderman - Hartford, Connecticut
Summer Associate - Internship Opportunity

Summer Associate

(Modified for COVID-19)

This is a modified Summer Associate Position for the Summer of 2020, with the possibility of continued part-time internship during the fall semester.

Since 1992, Alderman & Alderman has had one or two summer associates work with its attorneys in its downtown Hartford office.  From the outset of the COVID-19 crisis, the safety of our clients and staff has been the driving factor for every decision made concerning our business. For this reason our attorneys and staff are working from home, and will likely continue to do so well into the summer. In person meetings have been replaced with video conferences and courtroom hearings have been replaced with telephonic hearings.

This is a paid internship designed to expose a second year law student to the types of projects we customarily assign to our summer associates.  Projects may include:  Legal research and writing of internal memos of law and assisting with the preparation of pleadings, persuasive briefs and articles.    Additional duties  may also include a range of other projects ranging from those customarily assigned to legal assistants, to those that are still unforeseen.

Our clients are still trying to understand how COVID-19 will impact their needs.  We are still working to understand exactly how many hours of work we will have that will provide for a good learning experience.   We are projecting 20 - 25 hours per week of work during the summer internship. If available work expands, additional compensation may be available.

Requirements:  The successful candidate will have completed their second year of law school and demonstrated superior aptitude for the law.

We are committed to hiring the best candidates - Please read our Diversity Statement.

Sorry, this position is filled.    We are not accepting applications at this time.

Stay Safe!
